World Future Awards has named VVater the 2026 winner of Best Next-Generation Sustainable Water Treatment & Reuse Technology in the Technology category, recognizing the company’s innovative approach to creating cleaner, more efficient, and scalable water treatment solutions.
At the center of VVater’s technology is its Advanced Low-Tension Electroporation Process (ALTEP), which powers the company’s Farady Reactor. Using controlled electric fields, the technology is designed to eliminate contaminants at a molecular level without relying on chemicals, filters, membranes, or biological agents.
VVater has developed its technology for applications ranging from industrial and municipal infrastructure to agriculture, real estate, food and beverage production, and decentralized treatment. Its portfolio includes fixed installations as well as the ALPHA Class Units, capable of treating over 100,000 gallons of water per day.
The company also offers Water-as-a-Service, providing design, installation, operation, and maintenance through long-term service agreements. These models are intended to reduce the upfront financial barriers associated with adopting advanced water treatment infrastructure.
Kevin Gast, Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO of VVater, said:“We are deeply grateful to World Future Awards for this recognition. This award reinforces our belief that the future of water treatment must be cleaner, more efficient, and more accessible. Our team is proud to be developing technology that can help industries and communities rethink how water is treated and reused, and we thank World Future Awards for recognizing the potential of our work.”
The World Future Awards 2026 recognition highlights VVater’s contribution to a new generation of water infrastructure centered on sustainability, scalability, and responsible water reuse.
Clean water is one of the world’s most essential resources, yet the systems used to treat it often depend on chemicals, membranes, filters, extensive infrastructure, and ongoing consumables. VVater is approaching this challenge from a different direction, using electricity, advanced engineering, and scalable treatment models to rethink how water can be purified and reused.
In 2026, World Future Awards recognized VVater with the title of Best Next-Generation Sustainable Water Treatment & Reuse Technology in the Technology category. The recognition reflects a technology platform designed not simply to improve conventional water treatment, but to introduce an alternative built around efficiency, sustainability, and adaptability.
A Different Approach to Purification
At the center of VVater’s technology is its proprietary Advanced Low-Tension Electroporation Process (ALTEP), which powers the company’s Farady Reactor. Rather than relying on chemicals, biological agents, membranes, or filters, the system uses controlled, low-energy electric fields to target contaminants at a molecular level.
According to VVater, the technology can address contaminants including PFAS, microplastics, microorganisms, pharmaceuticals, and endocrine disruptors. Its website states that the system is consumable-free and uses 43% fewer kilowatt-hours per million gallons than reverse osmosis.
This approach also supports a broader goal: creating circular water systems in which water can be treated, reclaimed, and returned to productive use rather than continually drawing on new freshwater supplies.
From Mobile Treatment to Major Infrastructure
Scalability is a defining element of VVater’s strategy. Its solutions include fixed installations for industrial operations, real estate developments, and municipal facilities, alongside mobile technology for situations requiring greater flexibility. The company’s application materials describe fixed systems capable of processing up to 100 million gallons per day, while its Alpha mobile unit can treat 100,000 gallons daily.
Recent projects demonstrate how this technology is moving into practical applications. VVater announced a $5 million contract with the City of Bastrop, Texas, for next-generation municipal water infrastructure. The company has also secured a multimillion-dollar, ten-year agreement with Nestle to treat industrial discharge water converting into potable water at a Texas manufacturing facility.
VVater reports that its technology has now treated more than 4.3 billion gallons of water, with applications expanding across municipal, industrial, commercial, real estate, data center, and onsite reuse environments.
Making Advanced Water Technology More Accessible
Technology alone is only part of VVater’s model. Through VVater-as-a-Service (VVaaS), the company can design, build, own, operate, and maintain treatment infrastructure, shifting much of the complexity away from the customer. Its award application explains that this model was created to reduce the financial barriers associated with implementing advanced water infrastructure.
The company is also extending its technology into residential applications through VVater Shield, bringing its electric-field treatment approach into the home. Meanwhile, mobile and decentralized systems create possibilities for locations where traditional infrastructure may be difficult, expensive, or slow to deploy.
Building a More Circular Water Future
VVater’s development comes at a time when industries and communities are looking more closely at water security, infrastructure resilience, reuse, and the environmental costs associated with conventional treatment.
Its response is an integrated platform that combines advanced purification with modular deployment, reuse capabilities, reduced dependence on consumables, and alternative commercial models. The company describes its mission simply as providing “Clean Water for All Humankind,” with water treatment and reuse positioned as essential components of circular water economies.
The World Future Awards 2026 title of Best Next-Generation Sustainable Water Treatment & Reuse Technology recognizes this forward-looking approach. For VVater, the future of water is not only about producing cleaner water. It is about changing how water is treated, financed, deployed, conserved, and returned to use, creating infrastructure designed for a world where every drop carries greater value.
