Nuro is approaching a world with safer roads, where robotic cars run more errands with zero emissions. The company’s autonomous, zero-occupant on-road vehicle R2 was the first vehicle of its kind approved for commercial delivery by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Nuro R2 is a small autonomous vehicle with no driver or passenger seats. The vehicle is designed exclusively for local delivery services for small goods and products. The vehicle itself is small – this provides additional safety for pedestrians on the streets. The R2 is less tall than the average human height and less than one meter wide. It is equipped with a full set of radar, sonar, lidar, and a 360-degree vision system that leaves no blind spots. The cleverly designed interior of the Nuro R2 makes the vehicle as roomy as possible with extremely small body dimensions.

To date, Nuro has partnered with several brands, including Domino’s, Walmart, FedEx, etc. When ordering from one of Nuro’s partners, customers can select the “Self-Driving Vehicle” shipping option, and once the Nuro self-driving vehicle picks up the order, the customer will receive a link to track it. When the R2 arrives at the address, the buyer receives a message with a code that must be entered to receive the order.
